February 1-6

Good Evening, Pifer Families, Happy Sunday! We hope you are having a wonderful weekend and we are excited to see our Panthers tomorrow morning.

School Counselor Appreciation Week: This week we celebrate our wonderful school counselor, Mrs. Nichols! She supports all of our students through classroom lessons, small groups, lunch-bunch groups, and many other ways.  Thank you Mrs. Nichols for all you do to help our Panthers!

We are in need of help. Our 5th grade students are fundraising to go to camp! We have Big Brand Tire coupons available for purchase.  If you are interested in purchasing please contact the office for more information.  In addition, be on the lookout for prize calendars that will be sold soon with FABULOUS prizes that you can win.

Coaches Needed!

We are in need of coaches for our athletic program.  Unfortunately, we had to cancel the volleyball season due to a lack of coaches.  We have track starting soon and soccer and flag football to follow.  If you are interested, please complete a volunteer packet.  Here is the link for the volunteer paperwork.  Additionally, if you are not able to commit to coaching, we also need chaperones for our away games.  There are not very many away games, but it would make a huge impact on our athletes being able to participate.  For additional information, please contact our Athletic Coordinator, Grace Thayer at gethayer@pasoschools.org

Library News: Reminder Reading takes you everywhere!

World Read Aloud Day  on  Wed

We are so excited to bring this national event to our panthers. Each class will have a virtual visit & read aloud this Wednesday in their classroom with  a published author.  These authors are logging  in  from all over the country to share their story with the students as well as offer a Q&A.

Battle of the Books

3rd BOB meeting on Monday at lunch

Date change for our 4th, 5th & 6th grade competitions. Our site battle will be Fri, April 17th and district battle on Thur, April 23rd at Centennial Park .

PTA Update

  •  Tuesday, Feb 3rd is our Chipotle fundraiser from 4-8 pm.  If you would like to order online, please do so during the fundraiser hours and use the code: 2K3VDCN.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 4th is a PTA meeting at the Backyard at 5:30.  We encourage you to attend to discuss all of the events coming up this spring.

Spotlight on Staff: This week we recognize Jessica Andrade.  She has been such a wonderful addition to our Pifer Staff.  What Ms. Andrade loves most about her job is being able to connect with her students and not only teach them content, but also teach them how to be well rounded people.  Some fun facts about Ms. Andrade are that she loves horseback riding, dancing, and going to the beach.  She has also traveled to three different countries and 12 states.  Thank you Ms. Andrade for all you do for our 2nd graders!

Attendance: Last week we recognized both Mrs. Iliff’s 6th grade and Ms. Ostrander’s TK classes with the best attendance! Each class that is recognized weekly will be entered to win a special prize at the end of the trimester!

Yo-Yo Assembly: On Monday our students will be attending a fun assembly with Around the World Yo-Yo.  Your student will be bringing home information on Monday about purchasing a yo-yo.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated back to Pifer.  Additional information will be posted on ParentSquare.
